It rained all day yesterday.  By the end of the day, we needed a family outing - but it was raining.  So, this game was born... (there is a lot of high-pitched screaming, you might want to turn down the volume).

Lily's new bike - and the outfit she picked out herself for the first ride in the forest (note the fairy wings on her back).

Berry picking for a family night activity.  There was an incoming storm, and we were literally running to try to get back to the barn to pay for the berries before the down pour started.  We barely made it.

We've had lots of time in the little wading pool.  Perfect spot for it...

Lily blocking Jon from going to work.

We try to go to the library once a week.  If I pay the price of going (which includes carrying David out of the library kicking and screaming...because he wants to stay and play with the train table) then I get at least a half hour of downtime when we get home, because they love all the new books.

We found a new wildlife conservatory park that I wish I'd known about sooner!  It has a bird watching area, and little boardwalks through some wetlands, as well as an indoor museum exhibit.  We had a great time there.

And...Lily's trip to the ER.  I was getting something out of the closet while she was sitting at my feet putting her shoes on (we were going to the park for dinner).  A metal bar fell and hit the top of her head.  Blood was coming out pretty fast so we just put on a cloth and went to the hospital instead.

She was very brave, and it turns out that it was a really small cut.  They didn't even need to put stitches in it or anything.  We ate our picnic dinner on the hospital lawn.

Post ER trip to Wendys.  Icecream makes it all better.

My latest project - I learned a lot and there is still more detail work to do.  But here is the before...

More Adventures...

Well, its official - Jon has been accepted to Grad school at BYU (starting Jan 2016).  So, we get to move closer to family!!!!!  (Its not often that I'll stoop to using multiple exclamation points, but I'm really excited).  But at the same time, I've already had some of the bitter tastes of leaving.  I didn't realize how close I was to some of our friends here in PA until I told them that we're leaving.  Anyway, we're going to try to sell our house - and I've spent all day cleaning and taking pictures.

And I am really going to miss this kitchen and the park behind the house.

Reading Scriptures

I just couldn't resist ruining this moment for Jon and David by taking some pictures.  David gets to put a sticker on after they read the scripture verse, and he repeats the words after Jon.  Lily and Suzy do this too (when we actually remember to read).  Its cute to hear Suzy repeating all the words in the scriptures, she'll say, "abominations!" in her little sing song soprano register.

David kept stopping reading to say, "Cheese!"

Happy Father's Day

When I look at the pictures below, I don't know what to say.  I keep writing things and then erasing them.  I'm so grateful for the life that Jon and I have together.  For our friendship and love, for our children and our faith.  I'm so grateful for this incredibly hard and wonderful life we've chosen.  Happy Father's Day Jon - Thank you.  I love you.

David - July 2013

Suzy - Dec 2011

Lily - November 2010

Here's a Father's Day Card (and late Mother's Day) to all of you we wish we could see tomorrow.  (PS - the yelling from Jon in the background was a game they were playing in the kitchen.  Lily was being a slug under a blanket)
1. I like to look for rainbows whenever there is rain And ponder on the beauty of an earth made clean again. I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain. I want to be the best I can and live with God again.

2. I know when I am baptized my wrongs are washed away, And I can be forgiven and improve myself each day. I want my life to be as clean as earth right after rain. I want to be the best I can and live with God again.

1. I am a child of God, And he has sent me here, Has given me an earthly home With parents kind and dear.
Chorus Lead me, guide me, walk beside me, Help me find the way. Teach me all that I must do To live with him someday.
2. I am a child of God, And so my needs are great; Help me to understand his words Before it grows too late.
3. I am a child of God. Rich blessings are in store; If I but learn to do his will, I'll live with him once more.
4. I am a child of God. His promises are sure; Celestial glory shall be mine If I can but endure.

When I asked Lily if she wanted to sing, I was told, "I'm too busy" - so here is a cute picture.

The Ritual of Saying Goodbye

I posted pictures about this last year, but since then, there are some new steps, and the kids are older - so here it is again.  If the weather is nice, we do this every morning.  After breakfast, we say family prayers, Jon gives everyone a kiss, and then its a race out the door to see who can get to the parking lot first...(the girls always win).

The girls guard the entrance to the parking lot, trying to keep Jon from leaving (the sword was an extra addition this week).

Jon climbs over...

Then turns around and pokes the girls - sometimes making them tumble down.

We wave bye at the parking lot...

And then the girls race to the corner to beat Jon (they always win this too, but they always run to fast).

David tries to keep up...

(David saying "truck")

And then we wait at the corner for Jon to get there.  It takes him a while to drive down the street, because he listens to podcasts on the way to work, and has to load them up before he starts driving.

Once he's at the corner, there is a chorus of "BYE!  BYYYYYYYYE!"  David is usually the loudest.

Then David asks, "Daddy work?  Work?"  And we all go inside, by the it's 7:05 and the day has started.
